Pro-Chancellor

Shri S. Sureshkumar (B.Sc., LL.B.), initiated his political career during the emergency period in 1975, when he was the leader of the BJP group in the Corporation. In 1991, he was elected as the President of State BJP “Yuva Morcha”. During 1994-1999, 1999-2004, Shri S. Suresh Kumar was elected twice as M.L.A. from Rajajinagar and was recognized as “Model Legislator” by the then Chief Minister Shri J.H. Patel. During 1990-1998 he was holding the charge as President of Bangalore City, for BJP. During 1997-1999, he was appointed as the Deputy Leader of the BJP group in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. Since 1996, he is the BJP State Spokesperson, and since 2005 he is the BJP State General Secretary.

In the year 2008, Shri S. Suresh Kumar was elected to the 13th Karnataka Legislative Assembly from Rajajinagar Constituency. At present he is holding the Ministry for Urban Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Karnataka.

According to Section 13 of the Karnataka State Law University Act (Act No. 11 of 2009), 2009, The Minister in charge of Law, Justice and Human Rights in Karnataka shall be the Pro-Chancellor by virtue of his office. Karnataka State Law University, Hubli, is honored to have Shri S. Suresh Kumar as the first Pro-Chancellor of the University.
